Sustainability
Investing in the future
We believe it is essential that the creation of our products never comes at the expense of the people who make it or the environment. This is why it is the core of our policy. We adhere to the highest standards of integrity and comply with all applicable (inter)national laws and regulations. Our decisions are guided by a strong focus on people, the environment, and society.
Sustainability at Hogewoning is centred around employee health & safety, sustainable materials and packaging, and transport. Social compliance and improved working conditions in the supply chain are crucial. The Suppliers Code of Conduct is therefore implemented to ensure sustainability.
Our Certifications and Recognitions
For Hogewoning, it is not only important to contribute to and invest in what we stand for, but also that this is done transparently, verifiably, and accountably. To ensure this, we work closely with the following certifying institutions and specialized partners:
Insight in the present

for sustainable development
SDG commitments
Each SDG includes specific components known as targets. In total, there are 169 targets divided across the 17 SDGs. These targets make it possible to work locally, specifically, and purposefully. The SDGs are integrated in Hogewoning’s strategy, our work, and daily operations.
These 4 SDGs are our key priorities:

SDG 1: No Poverty
SDG 1 focuses on reducing poverty in all its forms. Hogewoning contributes to this by committing to a living wage for the men and women who produce our products.

SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
Economic growth is only sustainable when capital, labour, and resources are used responsibly, and profits and incomes are fairly distributed. Hogewoning pays close attention to protect the labour rights and a safe and secure working environment throughout the entire supply chain.

SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production
When choosing materials for products and packaging, sustainability is central at Hogewoning; responsible sourcing, recycling, natural materials, and reducing packaging materials wherever possible are always preferred.

SDG 13: Climate Action
Sustainability is integrated into Hogewoning’s policy and strategy. From waste separation to CO2 emission reduction, from sustainable raw materials to the reuse of recycled materials.

The SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) are the 17 sustainable development goals established by the United Nations to create a better and more sustainable world by 2030. They address global challenges such as poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental protection, peace, and justice.

People, planet, prosperity for all
People, planet, prosperity for all
Hogewoning’s sustainability strategy focuses on three areas: People, Planet, and Prosperity for All (the 3 Ps). Based on these pillars, we address Social compliance, Sustainable materials, Investment in CO2 reduction, and Transparency towards our stakeholders. To properly safeguard our strategy, it is important that the 3 Ps are balanced. If one of these focus areas is missing or underdeveloped, it becomes impossible to deliver a truly sustainable and responsible product.

PLANET:
The choices we make today shape the world of tomorrow
PLANET
Environmental impact
The environment, emissions, resources, and materials; these are the topics for ‘Planet’. As an international wholesaler with extensive logistics, small choices can lead to significant results.
The key focus areas under Planet are:
- CO2 emission-reduction
- Investing in biofuel for the purpose of CO2 reduction
- Recycling and Circularity
- Sustainable materials and packaging
In October 2024, Hogewoning started separating LDPE plastics. In just three months that year, 35,200 litres of LDPE plastics were collected for recycling. This continued in 2025, with 144,000 litres collected!
By recycling this plastic instead of producing new plastic, an estimated 2.7 to 3.6 tCO2 emissions are saved. That is equivalent of the emission to around 13,000 km of driving a car!
144,000 litres equates to approximately 1,800 kg of material.
This is enough to produce about 37,500 garbage bags or a quarter of a million plastic bags.
Safe and Responsible
Continuous Improvement
Whether it’s about (verifiably!) sustainably sourced materials or emissions, we remain alert to developments and opportunities for further sustainability.
